Unctuous texture and mild taste.
Easily identifiable by its flattened kidney shape and its soft, fine and persistent taste, the Maresme bean, also known as ganxet bean, is grown in numerous regions of Catalonia, but only what is produced in the Maresme, Vallès Oriental and Vallès Occidental has a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
Its smoothness and thin skin make the Maresme bean one of the most appreciated legumes in Catalonia. In addition, it also becomes a food rich in carbohydrates and fiber. It is also an important source of protein when combined with cereals.
