Pastry product typical of the town of Ripoll that, according to tradition, is based on cakes created in the ninth century in honor of Sant Eudald, and that was recovered during the first half of the twentieth century thanks to two patisseries in Ripoll.
These traditional sweets are made with milk, almond, sugar and flour, and are a kind of baked cakes. They are formed by a thin sheet of rolled and twisted wafer paste, stuffed with an almond and hazelnut paste and closed at the ends. There is a contrast between the crunchy texture of the paste and the creamy interior.
They are sold throughout the year in pastry shops in the town of Ripoll.
