Throughout Catalonia, cookies certified with the Q brand and with different denominations are handmade, depending on the specialty to which they refer.
The recipes of the different varieties of biscuits coincide in their preparation in the oven and in common ingredients, such as wheat flour, sugar, butter and nuts, all of the highest quality. Additives are not allowed, except for lecithin. As for the varieties, there are those of the maria type, round and with the fats addition, rolled wafers, sponge finger, almond or hazelnut cookies, which must have at least 20% of these dried fruits in their composition, chocolate cookies, made with dark chocolate, white or milk, almonds, made with egg white and a minimum of 40% almonds, and crocants, made exclusively with almond and sugar (minimum 45% almond).
These cookies are sold in sealed packaging, in individual specialties or in assortments, with a label that reads their quality mark certification in establishments throughout Catalonia.
Biscuits are a product with a high energy value, since their water content is very low. Its main component is carbohydrates, which makes them suitable for recovering the energy spent during exercise. Another important component of cookies are fats, mainly saturated, and, in addition, they provide a remarkable amount of cholesterol. Within a balanced diet it is advisable to include them from time to time in breakfast or snack.
