The tortell de Sant Antoni is a cake made of brioche paste very similar to the rostell de Reis, which is distinguished by the fact that it does not incorporate candied fruit and is always filled with marzipan. It is consumed on 17 January, the feast day of Saint Anthony the Abbott, patron saint of livestock, when the Tres Tombs festival is celebrated.
This cake has a recipe very similar to that of Reyes, round in shape and with a hole in the middle. It is made with eggs, flour, butter, sugar, yeast, milk, anise and marzipan, with the addition of lemon peel and cinnamon brushes powder, which differentiate it from Reyes. No candied fruit is added and this time the hidden surprise is a ceramic figurine imitating an animal or a picarol. It is usually taken for dessert or between meals during the day of Sant Antoni.

It is sold in bakeries and some bakeries throughout Catalonia during the day of Sant Antoni Abat, on January 17.
It is a product with a high energy value. Its main component is carbohydrates, both simple and complex. It is also a good source of high quality fats and proteins. Within a varied and balanced diet, it can be consumed occasionally.
