  • 1 i 1/4 kg - Fava beans, shelled
  • 4 thick slices - Pork belly
  • 1 - Spring onion, chopped
  • 2 - Garlic shoots, chopped
  • 1 sprig - Fresh mint
  • 1 - Bay leaf
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Water
  • A piece - Bull (type of flat sausage)

Brown the pork belly, garlic and onion in a saucepan.

Add the favas, herbs and the bull.

Add ¾ cup of water, season with salt and pepper.

Cover with a soup plate filled with water, and leave on low heat until the favas are cooked.


Use mild onion morcilla (blood sausage) instead of the bull.

Prepare with dried onion and garlic.
Add ripe tomato and pork ribs to the stir fry.
Use green peas in addition to the favas.

Add marjoram.

May be prepared with very fresh fava beans in the pod, strings removed and cut up.

At the end of the cooking, add a splash of anisette or ¼ cup mixed muscatel and brandy.

Add a piece of chorizo sausage or sobrasada (spicy sausage spread)
