A legacy of Arab cuisine, this is one of the most well known sweets in the Ebre region. It is said to have originated in a competition held in the 11th century by the governor of the city of Tortosa, which was at that time under Saracen rule. They are also referred to as Ĺcasquetes' or Ĺpanadons'.

They are sugared biscuits made with olive oil, flour, sugar and eau-de-vie. This dough is filled with a confit of sweet pumpkin and sweet potato, and more recently with cottage cheese also.
