Sitges Malvasia

Historical records indicate that the Malvasia grape and Malvasia wine, originally from Greece or Candia, have been in the Garraf since 1300. The name comes from the Latin for the city of Monembasia (Malvasia), on the Aegean coast in southern Greece, from where it was probably imported.

Sitges Malvasia is made from the Malvasia variety alone, which is the only grape cultivated in this area. The particular bouquet of this wine derives not only from the variety, but also its late harvest, high acidity and proximity to the sea.
