Keks, buckwheat beer

Keks, a buckwheat beer designed by the chef, advisor and gastronomic promoter Pep Nogué in collaboration with the preserves manufacturer Gerard Bech to make and distribute this top fermented beer. Keks is the first beer made in Girona and the first buckwheat beer in Catalonia and the whole of Spain. Its main characteristic is that it is made with buckwheat, and is therefore a new commercial outlet for one of the most typical products of the Garrotxa.

The ingredients of Keks are: water, barley malt, buckwheat, rolled oats, hops and yeast. It is a natural artisanal beer. It is not filtered and, therefore, produces sediment from the yeasts. It is not pasteurised, which means it is a beer that evolves. It has a shelf life of nine months and should be kept in a dry, cool, dark place, without direct sunlight or major temperature variations. The recommended serving temperature is between 6ºC and 8ºC. The alcohol content is 3.5%. This beer can be drunk on its own, as an aperitif or matched with foods that do not always go with wines: eggs, asparagus, artichoke or cheeses.
