‘Carquinyolis' are dry, sweet traditional biscuits (the first recipes date back to 150 years ago) that are made all over Catalonia, with Espluga de FrancolÝ and Caldes de Montbui being most renowned.

The basic ingredients are eggs, milk, sugar, flour and almonds, although every confectioner adds their own personal touch. The dough is rolled out and cut into small pieces, and the biscuits are either eaten alone or with milk, coffee, chocolate, sweet wine or Ratafia.
